With decline in mortalityfrom cardiovasculardiseases, more andmorepatients are surviving into advancedstages ofvarious disease states. In USA, heartfailure is the numberone reasonforhospitalization in those over sixty fiveyears age. A totalofoverthree millionpeople are sufferingfrom heartfailure, i.e., 1% of the total U.S.A. population. In the recentpast the emphasis was rightly on establishing the exact etiology of heart failure, and, it still is, and, should be. What has happened is that the large number of patients, poor prognosis despite diagnosis and similar principles of management has forced us to give importance to this pathophysiologic entity.Downloads
